Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known brand name of Winona Laura Hoowitz. She was born within Winona Minnesota. Her name was chosen by her parents in honor of the town where she was born. Her father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's father was from an ethnically Jewish family Ryder feels she's Jewish. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved out of Mendocino County, California when she was seven years old. There they didn't have electricity. Ryder was a voracious reading book because there was no TV. Ryder started taking classes in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 aged twelve years old. In 1986, she was offered her first major-screen appearance in the film Lucas at just fifteen years old. Ryder was bullied at her high school. The hope was that she would be able to change her life. But, unfortunately, that didn't happen. However, she continued to pursue the goals she had set for herself. Her breakthrough came with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder had a successful role in various films. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
